AN OVERVIEW
This Nova Scotia Wine Grape Production Guide is the outcome of a collaborative project involving the Grape Growers Association of Nova Scotia (GGANS), the Winery Association of Nova Scotia (WANS), AgraPoint, the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture (NSDA), and the Kingstec Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).

The guide was developed as a working document for the grape growers of Nova Scotia as well as a study guide for the NSCC course ’Introduction to Grape Growing in Nova Scotia’.

The Guide is organized into four modules:
• Vineyard planning and development
• Planting, trellis design, pruning, and canopy management
• Integrated pest management
• Harvest and processing

The Guide is an organized compendium of internet available publications as well as original documents that collectively outline an A to Z of grape growing information pertinent to Nova Scotia growers. It is not an exhaustive collection of articles available, but rather a limited collection chosen on the basis of applicability to Nova Scotia grape growing conditions, quality of the writing and information presentation, and the avoidance of copyright infringement.

The Guide provides direct Nova Scotia content where necessary; however, for topics where location sensitivity is not required (e.g. biology of the grapevine) existing reference materials were sourced and compiled.

As stated, it is a working document.  It is expected that the collection will be refined as more applicable documents become available.
